The digital audio technology leader Frontier Smart Technologies has announced that its M6 and Magic X services will be transferred to airable in December, and the internet radio portal, MediaU, will be shut down by 15th December 2024. This change will affect some functions of SANGEAN WFR-32 and WFR-39 internet radios.
Since the MediaU server used by SANGEAN WFR-32 and WFR-39 internet radios will not support weather and MediaU server related services after being transferred to airable, the WFR-32 and WFR-39 will not display weather information in standby mode in the future. In addition, due to the shutdown of the MediaU server, users of the WFR-32 and WFR-39 will not be able to create a custom station list and play these stations. However, internet radio and podcast services will continue to be provided by airable.
SANGEAN understands that the above functional changes may cause inconvenience to users, and we are deeply sorry. We have signed a cooperation agreement with airable, where they will continue to provide SANGEAN product users with the latest and most reliable internet radio and podcast services. * Please note that starting from December 10, 2024, users of the WFR-32 and WFR-39 models can update the software using a wireless network connection to access the latest software services. After the update is complete, please turn off the radio, remove the power source, and then plug it in again to complete the update steps. Please note that do not turn off or remove the power source during the update process to avoid update failure or other damage.
WFR-32 / WFR-39 Software Feature Update – Supplementary Notice (Updated: August 2025)
In response to user feedback and market demand, the SANGEAN technical team has been working closely with our partner airable to address feature support for the WFR-32 internet radio. We are pleased to announce that the “My mediaU” and weather display functions have been successfully reinstated for the WFR-32, with OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates gradually released starting July 25, 2025. The WFR-32 users can restore these features simply by connecting their device to the internet and completing the update.
Unfortunately, due to technical architecture limitations, the WFR-39 is currently unable to support the return of the “My mediaU” and weather functions. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and will continue to explore possible technical solutions.

• Update Release Date: Starting July 25, 2025
• Steps to Update:
1. Connect the device to a stable Wi-Fi network.
2. After completing the OTA update, please turn off the radio, unplug the power, then plug it back in to finalize the update process.
3. Do not turn off or disconnect power during the update to avoid failure or system errors.
